Ugly Sabun Soap is the absolute best ever
by Raelle Connolly
One of the things I love.
Soap is soap ah! well not really all soaps are not created equal. Some are just bad and some are good and some are exceptional.
Since our skin is our body's largest organ, it is our barrier but at the same time is permeable and vulnerable to be breached. We need to be mindful of what we use to cleanse and protect this very important barrier that keeps us intact.
Bad soaps are chemical minefields and will strip the skin of its natural oils and dry it causing flaky crusty scaly ugly skin that is irritated and itchy. It can even cause allergies like urticaria or eruptions that will need antihistamine or medications to calm down the reactions. Our skin will allow chemicals to enter our body and reck havoc in our body and is linked to cancer and many other diseases.
A good soap will have no chemicals instead have natural phyto-chemical (Plant) ingredients which hopefully will moisturise the skin in the cleansing process.
An exceptional soap wont strip the skin of its natural oils, will not contain chemicals and will enhance the beauty of the skin through moisturising and conditioning.
So which soap would you want to use? yes soap isn't just soap and over the last 40 years our soaps have become more and more chemical orientated and less natural.
So many people are experiencing skin irritations and sensitivities to chemicals. Not surprising really as we are exposed to more and more chemicals every day in the name of progress.
Psoriasis and eczema are prevalent in our society due to many sensitivities from the chemical overload we experience everyday we use commercially made personal hygiene products.
I have found a Ugly soap but it is exceptional in its ability to enrich and nourish our skin that is chemical free.
It lasts five times longer than any other soap I have used, is as ugly as they come. It is a huge brown block with an stamped imprint. it certainly doesn't win any beauty awards, is not at all pretty but wow is it an exceptional soap.
It lasted my husband and I for 6 weeks which is 5 weeks longer than a normal cake of soap. My husband uses it to wash his hair and for shaving, his scalp is no longer dry and scaly like it used to be with other soaps.
My legs are no longer dry and scaly, as well I use it as a shaving cream on my legs. Wow soap moisturiser and shaving cream it is saving me money as well as making me feel good.
Sabun olive oil soap has been hand made in Aleppo, Syria for over 1000 years and is famous the world over.
It is known by many names - in Syria as moisturiser Ghar - (Laurel soap) and in France as Savon D'alep - (Aleppo Soap), a castile soap made with olive oil.
Each soap bears a stamp with the soap makers name and stating that it originates from Aleppo.
Traditionally this soap has been recommended for many skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis and dandruff due to the ingredients and their benefits.
The high olive oil content of Sabun (more than 80%) forms an invisible, non-greasy, breathable skin barrier that does not block the skins pores while also serving as a humectant drawing moisture to the skin.
The anti-inflammatory properties and the humectant (moisture-drawing) quality of sabun makes it useful in the treatment of chronic dry skin. It has some natural disinfectant properties and also tends to rev up cellular activity, making it useful in assisting the skin's healing processes.
The Laurel Oil (oil of bay laurel berry) is also a natural ingredient which is antibacterial so helps to thoroughly cleanse the skin.
The soap is produced once a year in the olive season.
It is cooked for 3 days, allowed to set and then cut and stacked and left for 9 months to dry until it is ready to use. This produces a very hard soap which lasts a long time.
This soap lasts and lasts it is unbelievable and the feel of your skin is great, so worth the try, you can buy it on the website https://www.sabun.co.nz/collections/sabun-soap
It is also available at selected Pharmacies and health shops.
I personally recommend this soap to anyone that suffers from dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, urticaria and or any skin condition.
This is just one of the things I like.
